Nvidia announced today that it will invest $2 billion in Nebius, a Dutch AI‑cloud startup focused on developing next‑generation edge‑AI infrastructure. The funding marks a significant step for Nvidia as it seeks to strengthen its position against rivals such as Google, Microsoft and Meta in the rapidly evolving field of artificial intelligence.
In a statement released by Nvidia’s chief technology officer, the company highlighted Nebius’ cutting‑edge silicon architecture and its potential to accelerate AI workloads across data centers and edge devices. “Our partnership with Nebius will help us deliver faster, more efficient AI solutions worldwide,” CTO Alexei Petrov said.
The investment follows a period of intense competition among major tech firms that are racing to secure advanced chips, data‑center capabilities and cloud services. Nvidia’s move is seen as part of its broader strategy to dominate the AI infrastructure market, especially in Europe where demand for edge computing solutions is growing.
Industry analysts predict that the partnership will enable Nvidia to tap into Nebius’ existing network of European customers and accelerate the rollout of its proprietary AI workloads. “With this investment, Nvidia can expand its footprint beyond traditional data centers and offer a comprehensive suite of AI services,” noted Maria Gomez, a senior analyst at GlobalTech Insights.
For Nebius, the funding provides resources to scale its hardware development and expand into new markets such as autonomous vehicles and industrial automation. CEO Janneke de Vries said that the partnership would allow Nebius to “leverage Nvidia’s expertise in AI processing while accelerating our own product roadmap.”
